About Niki

I’ve been married to Benny for 15 years. 12 of them happily. ;) We had a rocky start, but by the grace of God we’ve grown together and every year we are more “one” than the year before. Our rocky start included a brief, but painful emotional affair, a struggle through sexual addiction and recovery, and yes, the two were related. We have been through so much crap together, and I can’t imagine surviving it with anyone else. That was over 12 years ago, and it hardly seems like it happened…except sometimes when we’re counseling other couples and their frustrations and pain bring back old memories. We still have our rough patches like most couples do, but overall I can say we’re happily married.

I grew up in a family where sexual abuse was commonplace, but never talked about. This silent killer of spirits has definitely shaped my point of view and driven me harder to speak up about the topic of sex. Taking the secrecy out of it tends to diminish it’s power when it is being used as God never intended it to be.

I have a passion for the topics discussed on this blog and I decided long ago to release the fear that holds believers back from talking about subjects that are still so taboo in the church. I want to open a platform for men and women to be able to dialogue about issues concerning sex, love, and marriage. My desire is for this to be a place of honesty, integrity, and mutual encouragement. I want people to be free to disagree while still respecting each other, and I want this to be a safe place to ask questions. We all have so much to learn from each other and there are so few places available to do that in this context.

I welcome your questions, comments, and input on future topics to discuss.
